Lauren LaHaye, PLPC
Psychotherapist
Lauren believes therapy should feel less like sitting across from an expert analyzing you and more like being deeply seen, understood, and supported while finding your way back to yourself. She creates a space where clients can let their guard down, explore their inner world with curiosity instead of shame, and learn to work with their nervous system rather than against it. Her approach is warm, relational, authentic, and grounded in genuine human connection.
Lauren works from a holistic, trauma-informed perspective that honors the deep connection between the mind, body, nervous system, relationships, environment, and lived experiences. She often integrates psychoeducation, somatic awareness, nervous system regulation, creativity, mindfulness, and parts work into sessions to help clients better understand themselves with more compassion and less shame.
She is especially passionate about helping clients reconnect with themselves after spending years stuck in survival mode, chronic stress, people pleasing, perfectionism, burnout, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or trauma. Lauren is neurodivergence-informed and enjoys working with highly sensitive people, deep feelers, creatives, caretakers, and adults navigating identity, transitions, relationships, and self-worth.
Lauren also has a special interest in women’s emotional wellness and helping women better understand the connection between hormones, the nervous system, emotions, stress, and the menstrual cycle. She believes many women have spent years disconnected from their bodies and deserve supportive spaces where their emotional experiences are not dismissed or pathologized.
Her work is heavily influenced by Polyvagal Theory, somatic approaches, and parts work perspectives, with the understanding that healing is not just cognitive — it is physiological, emotional, relational, and deeply human. Lauren believes symptoms often make sense in the context of a person’s experiences, and therapy can be a space to build safety, self-awareness, self-trust, and regulation from the inside out.
Lauren welcomes conversations surrounding spirituality, meaning, purpose, intuition, and personal beliefs when these topics are important to the client’s healing journey. She approaches these conversations with openness, curiosity, and respect for each individual’s unique experiences and values.
Lauren earned her Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and is currently a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) in the state of Louisiana. She continues pursuing additional training in trauma-informed, somatic, and holistic therapeutic approaches.
Outside of the therapy room, Lauren enjoys making art, being outdoors, movement and dance as forms of nervous system regulation, holistic wellness practices, music, creativity, and finding meaningful connection in everyday life. As “The Cajun Therapist,” her Cajun roots naturally influence the warmth, humor, authenticity, and grounded energy she brings into her work with clients.
Lauren is LGBTQIA+ allied, culturally affirming, and committed to creating an emotionally safe and inclusive space for individuals from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.
