Amber May Dugas
Psychotherapist & Ecotherapist
Working with adolescents, adults and Couples
Amber believes in the healing power of nature and that we are all connected as one through Earth’s ecosystem.

Her goal is to create a safe and collaborative space that allows the client to freely express themselves without judgment. Amber has experienced and overcome many hardships in her own life, including divorce. She feels that her purpose is to help others find their own unique path and flow. Amber enjoys guiding clients towards discovery of their inner strength through providing insight, awareness, and support.

Amber primarily works with adolescents (13 years of age and up), adults, and couples within a holistic framework in the areas of anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, divorce, inner child healing, self-empowerment, trauma, and spirituality. Amber is enthusiastic about guiding her clients toward self-love and discovering their inner strength. She uses ecotherapy techniques to influence a connection between the client and the outdoors. Amber also helps the client to pursue the power of the present
moment through meditation and looking inward. Her goal is to create a safe space that allows the client to find inner peace and clarity. Amber also has play therapy training and will often use unique interventions and sand tray techniques to help the client find new ways to understand and express themselves. She finds this is even helpful with adults! Amber’s therapeutic approaches usually center around existentialism, person-centered, strength-based, and Jungian modalities.
Amber’s hope is that you leave the counseling session feeling lighter than you did when you first walked in. Releasing your thoughts and negative energy allows your body and mind to begin to heal. Change does not happen overnight, but if you invest in the journey instead of the end result, you will begin positive transformations little by little.
Amber earned her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education in 2006 and earns her Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in December 2023 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She has applied for a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) credential and anticipates approval by early January, when she will begin the post-graduate school licensure process with the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselor’s Board of Examiners. In addition, Amber is also in the process of becoming a certified Ecotherapist from the Earthbody Institute of California.

Outside of work, Amber enjoys connecting with nature! You will find her hiking, kayaking, doing yoga, cooking, fishing, traveling, camping and reading! She loves spending time with her family and coming home to her three big dogs! Amber is a Cajun girl and her heritage is important to her. She is always ready to cook a warm meal for others!

Amber is allied with the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities and culturally diverse populations. She makes a vigorous effort to continue building upon her knowledge of equity, inclusion, and diversity. She works with clients of diverse cultural, religious and spiritual backgrounds, incorporating the client’s unique values and practices upon Request.
Amber is a climate change aware therapist and enjoys supporting clients in coping with anxiety, grief, and any other feelings surrounding macro-level ecological stressors our world is facing.
