Alexis Richard, MSW, LMSW
Psychotherapist
Alexis Richard is a Licensed Master Social Worker pursuing clinical licensure (under the supervision of Kathryn Dietzway, LCSW-BACS) with experience in many areas of mental health, including trauma, complex trauma, dissociative disorders, PTSD, anxiety, panic disorder, depression, self-esteem issues, personality disorders, and OCD. Alexis is fully trained to practice EMDR therapy under EMDRIA's standards of basic EMDR training and is currently pursuing certification in EMDR. She has extensive experience in crisis intervention, working with sexual assault survivors and psychiatric inpatient services. Alexis currently provides both in-person and telehealth services for adults.
Driven by a passion for learning, Alexis regularly pursues advanced trainings to continuously build on her knowledge and offer her clients the highest quality of care and support. She has completed several specialized trainings focused on utilizing EMDR and Ego State Therapy to treat complex trauma, dissociative disorders (including DID), and borderline personality disorder. She is also trained in ERP to treat OCD and phobias. She is Level 1 trained in Deep Brain Reorienting a gentle, somatic based method of working with shock trauma and dissociation.
Alexis strives to provide a safe space where clients feel heard, validated, and accepted. She is an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community and individuals from culturally diverse populations and is committed to growing her knowledge of equity, inclusion, and diversity. 


Alexis understands that every individual deserves a therapy approach that best supports their healing process. She listens to each client’s specific needs and goals and develops a plan that fosters their growth and helps each individual reach their full potential. Alexis believes in the importance of empowering individuals to make decisions that improve their quality of life.


Alexis is a true Cajun from the small town of Bayou Vista, Louisiana. She received her bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Science from Nicholls State University and earned her master’s degree in Social Work from Louisiana State University. She has been a resident of Broussard, Louisiana, for the past seven years. Alexis is a proud new mom who loves spending her time with family. In her spare time, she enjoys all things crafty and creative, having game nights with her family and friends, and relaxing at her family’s camp on the bayou.
Ethics and Standards of Practices for social workers: ​Alexis Richard is employed as a W-2 employee of The Therapy Garden, LLC in alignment with Louisiana Board of Social Work Examiners standards, which require Licensed Master Social Workers (LMSWs) in psychotherapy settings to be W-2 employees rather than contractors -a structure we have confirmed directly with the Board of Social Work. Alexis Richard, LMSW is not in private practice herself; she is employed as a social worker to provide psychotherapy services by The Therapy Garden. Insurance and Payment info: Not in network with any insurances; can offer receipt for services so that clients may inquire about out of network reimbursement with their insurance. Private pay only at this time, payment due at time of service. Limited Sliding Scale spots available.
